Dr Martyn Newman, CEO of RocheMartin
ic Dr Newman is a consulting psychologist with an international reputation as an expert in emotional intelligence (EI) and leadership. As well as holding senior academic positions at leading universities in Australia and Europe, he has many years experience in leadership training and management consulting across Europe and Asia. Martyn has worked as an executive coach and advisor to senior people at many leading companies such as, Boeing, BP, Exxon Mobil, AXA, Foster's, GSK, and Quiksilver among many others, to improve the performance of their people and organization. He is currently an executive coach to Boeing Australia's Executive Council and consultant to the European Union and the Bulgarian Government's Ministry of Finance, assisting them to develop leadership excellence.
He is the author of Emotional Capitalists -The New Leaders, and coauthor of the Emotional Capital InventoryTM - the international benchmark for measuring EI and leadership performance, and the Emotional Intelligence Sports Inventory - the world's first psychological inventory to measure how EI supports elite sports performance. His research has been published by the American Psychological Association and his most recent seminar: Emotional Capitalists - The New Psychology of Emotional Intelligence and Leadership, has been widely acclaimed in Europe, Asia and Australia.
Martyn received his PhD from the University of Sydney and holds an MA from the University of California, Berkeley, a Masters of Psychology from Monash University, Melbourne, and a Doctor of Psychology from La Trobe University, Melbourne. He has held academic posts as Senior Lecturer at the University of East London and the School of Psychology at ACU National. He chaired a symposium at the British Psychological Society's Centenary Conference on the application of psychological assessment to business practices; was keynote speaker at the Psychological Society of Ireland's National Conference, speaking on The Power of Building Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace, and in June this year presented on EI and leadership at the International Conference on Emotional Intelligence, in London.
