New Policy framework announced

In late September the Victorian Government launched "Positive Pathways for Victoria's vulnerable young people: A policy framework to support vulnerable youth which sets out the key principles that will underpin Victoria's approach to services for vulnerable youth and their families.

This vulnerable youth framework outlines five focus areas to guide existing and future development in youth services:

  • Engagement in education, training and employment
  • Early identification of vulnerability
  • Tailored responses to particular groups
  • Local partnerships, planning and participation
  • Effective services, capable people.

The framework signals a shift towards more flexible options for engaging vulnerable young people in education and training, better identification of vulnerability, more responsive and tailored service responses and more streamlined access to localised and coordinated services that will address the multifaceted issues faced by vulnerable young people today in a holistic way.
