Government

       Australian Qualifications Framework

The AQF is a unified system of national qualifications in schools, vocational education and training (TAFEs and private providers) and the higher education sector (mainly universities).

       Department of Human Services

The Department of Human Services is Victoria's largest state government department. DHS plans, fund and deliver health, community and housing services in line with the government's vision for making Victoria a stronger, more caring and innovative state.

       Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development

DIIRD is the Victorian Government's lead agency for economic and regional development. Government's goals for more quality jobs and thriving, innovative industries across Victoria will be fostered through DIIRD's five priority objectives: Investment Attraction, Trade Development, Developing Innovative Industries, Regional Development and Marketing Victoria.

Department of Education, Science and Training (Commonwealth)

DEST provides national leadership and works in collaboration with the States and Territories, industry, other agencies and the community in support of the Government’s objectives. We develop and implement policies to ensure the continuing relevance of education, science and training to contemporary needs and the growing requirement for lifelong learning. We also ensure high quality and value for money in delivering Government funded programmes.

Department for Victorian Communities

The Department for Victorian Communities (DVC) works with local people throughout Victoria with the mutual goal of strengthening communities. We believe that successful community strengthening happens when government investments are linked to local knowledge and community decision-making.

      Funded Agency Channel

The FAC is the Department of Human Services (DHS) primary information, communication and business tool for use with funded agencies. FAC was launched in January 2002 to focus on improving the relationship between the Department and funded agencies.

Local Learning and Employment Networks

LLENs are a Victorian Government initiative. They bring together education providers, industry, community organisations, individual and government organisations to improve education, training and employment outcomes for young people in communities across Victoria.

 National Centre for Vocational Education Research

The NCVER is Australia's principal provider of vocational education and training (VET) research and statistics.

       Skills Victoria (formerly Office of Training & Tertiary Education)

Skills Victoria offers strategic leadership and support in the areas of Vocational Education and Training (VET), Higher Education (HE).

Victoria Online

Victoria Online is the fastest way to find local, state and federal government information and services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Victoria Online is a 'portal' - a specialised website that helps you find the information and services that exist on other government websites and can then take you directly to those websites. It is both an easy-to-use directory and a powerful search engine, all organised in a way that does not require that you have knowledge of government or the way government is structured.

Victorian Learning and Employment Skills Commission

The VLESC has a broad advisory role to Government on post compulsory education, training and employment It is the State training agency and executes responsibility for the State training system within the context of its broader role

 

Training

      Australian Apprenticeships

Australian Apprenticeships is the new name for the scheme formerly known as 'New Apprenticeships'. Under the scheme the Australian Government incentives and personal benefits programme are still the same. Australian Apprenticeships still encompass all apprenticeships and traineeships. They combine time at work with training and can be full-time, part-time or school-based. 

      Adult, Community and Further Education

ACFE provides lifelong learning opportunities for Victorian adults, contributing to their social, economic, and cultural development as individuals and members of the Victorian community.

       DISTSS - Disability In-service Training Support Service

The primary purpose of DISTSS Inc is to enhance the lives and work participation of people with disabilities. It fulfils this purpose by delivering services directly to people with disabilities and by working with the staff of agencies which provide support services.

       DEST-Training & Skills

The training and skills sector, also known as vocational education and training or VET, gives Australians the opportunity to gain the skills they need to enter the workforce for the first time, to re-enter the workforce, to retrain for a new job or to upgrade their skills for an existing job. Australian Apprenticeships are available in traditional trades, and in a diverse range of emerging careers, in most sectors of business and industry.

      Foundation House

The Victorian Foundation for the Survivors of Torture Inc. 

Health, social and other community workers, to whom many survivors turn for help, may not be equipped to respond appropriately if they  have limited experience in meeting the unique needs of survivors of organised violence.

As a recognised specialist in trauma services, the provision of training and support to individuals and organisations involved in community based service delivery to refugees is another key focus of Foundation House.

Foundation House regularly holds training and information sessions for a range of professionals including health and welfare workers and teachers from both its Brunswick and Dandenong locations. Outreach and custom designed training is also available by arrangement. Modules and training sessions cover a wide range of topics, reflecting the emerging professional development needs and concerns of workers.

      Pathways Australia

Pathways Australia is committed to assisting the leaders and staff of Not-For-Profit organisations to develop the skills and gain the knowledge they need to 'make a difference' in their organisations.

They offer practical training programs, forums and seminars designed to meet the specific needs of Not-For-Profit organisations. They are facilitated by people who understand the Not-For-Profit sector and who are also experts on the topics they present.

      National Training Information Systems

NTIS is the official national register of information on Training Packages, Qualifications, Courses, Units of Competency and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and has been developed for experienced training sector users.      

      Recognising Competency

The “Recognising Competency” model provides a cost effective and efficient solution to staff development and training in organisations.
The model takes a holistic approach to competency assessment by encouraging the use of clustered units. Underpinning knowledge and workplace practices are then assessed together providing natural and performance based evidence gathering opportunities.

      Short Courses

Short Courses Victoria allows you to search for the course you want, and find a course provider that is conveniently located near your home or work.

      Training Support Network

The TSN website provides access to training information such as Training Package Purchasing Guides and delivery resources. You can find out about a Curriculum Maintenance Manager or read their latest newsletters and announcements. You can also access the latest information on other initiatives of the Office of Training and Further Education.

      Victorian TAFE Training Courses

This directory provides detailed information about accredited TAFE courses and providers in Victoria. The directory is produced annually and distributed to education and training providers. It is available to the public through Information Victoria (call 1300 366 356) or can be accessed online at http://www.education.vic.gov.au/tafecourses

      Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority

The VCAA is responsible for the provision of high quality curriculum and assessment programs for all students in Victoria.

Peak Organisations

Aged and Community Care Victoria Ltd.

ACCV is the leading peak body for aged care in Victoria, resulting from the amalgamation of the Victorian Association of Health and Extended Care and Aged Care Association of Victoria Ltd.

Australian Education Union

The AEU is a federally registered union that represents the public education sector throughout Australia. Nationally it has in excess of 160,000 members.

Australian Nursing Federation (VIC)

The ANF was established in 1924. The ANF is the national union for nurses and the largest professional nursing organisation in Australia. The ANF's core business is the industrial and professional representation of nurses and nursing through the activities of a national office and branches in every State and Territory.

Australian Services Union

Representing the interests of approximately 140,000 members across the country, the Australian Services Union - better known as the ASU - is one of the largest trade unions in Australia. Formed in 1993 as an amalgamation of a number of unions, including the FCU, the MEU and the MOA, the ASU operates in areas as diverse as local government, energy, water, public transport, , shipping, travel, ports, social and community services, information technology and the private sector clerical and administrative area. 

Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare Inc.

CfE provides representation, professional development, research, policy and program advice, publications and resources for 90 community service organisations in the child, youth and family services sector of Victoria.

Community and Public Sector Union

CPSU (PSU Group) is one of the most active and innovative unions in Australia. Membership is open to employees in a wide range of industries including the public sector, telecommunications, call centres, employment services, commercial broadcasting, the aviation industry and science and research. CPSU's members include people doing work in the areas of administration, sales, engineering, communications, information technology, technical, scientific research, broadcasting, and many others.

Disability In-Service Training Support Services Inc. (DISTSS)

DISTSS’ primary purpose is to enhance the lives and work participation of people with disabilities. It fulfils this purpose by delivering services directly to people with disabilities and by working with the staff of agencies which provide support services.

 National Disability Services

NDS is the national industry association for disability services, representing over 600 not-for-profit organisations. Collectively, NDS’ members operate several thousand services for Australians with all types of disability. NDS’ members range in size from small support groups to large multi-service organisations, and are located in every State and Territory across Australia.

Health and Community Services Union

HACSU is a Victorian branch of the Health Services Union of Australia (HSUA). HSUA is registered organisation under the provisions of the Australian Workplace Relations Act 1996. HACSU represents the majority of staff employed in psychiatric, intellectual disability and alcohol and drug services in Victoria.

Health Services Union

The Health Services Union is a specialist health union with over 70,000 members working in all areas of healthcare across the country. The membership of the union includes doctors, nurses and allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and radiographers, ambulance officers, clerical and administrative staff, managers and support staff.

Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union (Ambulance Division)

With over 137,000 members and four per cent growth last year, the LHMU is one of Australia's largest, and largest growing, Unions. LHMU members work in a wide range of occupations including hospitality, property services, health, manufacturing and community services.

Municipal Association of Victoria

The Municipal Association of Victoria is the peak representative and advocacy body for Victoria's 79 councils. The MAV was formed in 1879 and the Municipal Association Act 1907 anointed the MAV the official voice of local government in Victoria.  

Private Hospitals Association Vic.

As the peak body for private hospitals, the APHA represents the full spectrum of health care services for private hospitals and day surgery facilities, encompassing all surgical and medical specialty areas, including accident and emergency, acute care, rehabilitation and psychiatry.

Psychiatric Disability Services of Victoria

VICSERV is the peak body for Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation and Support Services in Victoria, Australia.

Victorian Council of Social Service

VCOSS, established in 1946, is the peak independent coordinating body of the social and community services sector. VCOSS raises awareness of the existence, causes and effects of poverty and inequality, and advocate for the development of a sustainable, fair and equitable society. As well as promoting the well being of those experiencing disadvantage, and contributing to initiatives seeking to create a more just society, VCOSS also provides a strong, non-partisan voice for the community sector.

Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Originally formed in 1851, VECCI is Victoria's most influential employer group. Servicing more than 15,000 members, clients and customers, VECCI is an independent, non-government body formed by the business community specifically to represent business needs

Victorian Healthcare Association Ltd.

The Victorian Healthcare Association is the major peak body representing the interests of the public healthcare sector in Victoria. Our  members are public hospitals, rural and regional health services, community health services and aged care facilities. Established since 1938, VHA promotes the interests of its members.
